It Dies Today - Sirens (Trustkill Records)

For anyone who expected this release to sound anything like “Forever Scorned” or “The Caitiff Choir” will be disappointed. I’ll admit, through my first couple of listens, I couldn’t get into this because I was hoping for the brutality of their previous efforts. This wasn’t the It Dies Today that I know and love. Fortunately I have continued to listen to this and it is pretty good. This is everything that a metal core cd should sound like today. It Dies Today’s sound have progressed a lot. There is a ton of clean singing on this album, unlike their previous material. There isn’t as much of the chug chug chug breakdown either. On tracks like “Sacred Heart (Sacre Coeur)” and “Through Leaves, Over Bridges” they visit their old sound, but it is songs like “Damsel of Death” featuring sing a long chorus and even a guitar solo that make this cd stand out. So don’t go into listening to this expecting The Caitiff Choir part two. Listen to this with an open mind and enjoy the beauty that is “Sirens”.
