Lokyata

First can you state your name and what you do in the band?
My name is Tony and I play the guitfiddle (guitar)
.

Where does the name Lokyata come from?
It is a group of philosophers of 800 BCE who found happiness in the
material world instead of turning to the delusions of religion to find
truth.

How did you get signed to Indianola Records?
We were playing a show at the Mellow Mushroom in Valdosta GA where
John, co-owner of Indianola, was there checking out another band and
coincidentally saw us playing. We exchanged information and here we
are.

You guys are brutal, where does all of the hate come from?
It comes from our moms force feeding us broccoli when we were kids.

You’re looking for a new vocalist for your summer tour. What happened
to Dustin?

He quit.

Who are some of your biggest influences?
Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Mr. Bungle, Meshuggah
anything sick.

Why do you think there is such a good hardcore and metal scene in
Florida?

Everybody’s minds are fried by the sun.

How does it feel to have “Purified by Anger” compared to “Petitioning
the Empty Sky”by Converge?

Who said that? I’m sure they had good intentions when they made the
comparison.

What do you do for fun when you aren’t touring?
We like cheap booze, fast women, and Parcheesi.

Do you have jobs outside of music?
 Yes we do.

What was the writing and recording process for “Purified by Anger” like?
The songs on Purified by Anger are a collection of songs that were
written over a long period of time with long breaks in between. The recording
was made in about five days with mastering. It was very quick process.

How would you describe your sound?
I would describe it as the different moods of metal.

What can someone who has never seen you live expect at one of your shows?
You should come to the show with no expectations and take it for what it
is. I don’t want to blow smoke up anyone’s ass and tell them something
that might let them down. One thing I can tell you to expect when indulging
one of our live shows; there will be blood

If you could play a show with any three artists, past or present, who would
they be?

Slayer, Faith no More, and Old Metallica

Do you have any pre show rituals?
I always warm up by stretching and running scales on the guitfiddle.

Who has been your favorite band to play with?
Suffocation, It Dies Today, and Ion Dissonance.

You have quite a few shows lined up for the summer. Who are you going
on tour with?

We are going out by ourselves this summer.

Well thanks for taking time to do this. Do you have any last words for the
readers?

Stop segregating. It is all Metal.
