First off can you state your name and what you do in the band?
My name is Rob and I play bass for Oceana.

Where does the name of the band come from?
I am quite the fan of the band Sparta and they have a song called While Oceana Sleeps and one day I was just like "Oceana would be a cool name" and everyone else agreed.

How did you hook up with Rise Records?
We just recorded 2 demos and sent out a bunch of press kits and RISE was the first to hop on us so we went with them.

The Tide came out fairly recently and is absolutely amazing.  What was the writing and recording process like for you guys?
Prior to getting signed we had roughly 5 or 6 songs and Craig the owner of Rise asked us to record a full length within the next month so we got to work writing came up with our cd and hit the studio. The whole studio process took about 2 weeks for everything to be complete.

Do you have any plans to do a music video?
Soon. We've been discussing it but haven't quite done it yet, haha.

Is there any specific meaning behind the title, The Tide?
We were kind of going with the whole Oceana ocean sea thing.

You just finished up your last tour and are about to hit the road again.  Can you give up some details on your touring plans for the rest of the year?
Coming up we will be playing Cornerstone then off with Destroy the Runner, In Fear and Faith and Sever Your Ties and that will get us out to California for Warped Tour. Then right after that we meet up with Showbread for a full US tour that will bring us through September.

With the little bit of downtime you've had recently have you written any new material?
YES and we love it and hopefully everyone else will.

I live about 45 minutes from St. Pete and oddly enough I've never seen you live.  How would you describe your live show for someone who's never seen you?
We try to be very high energy and high emotion we all really feel the music and try to show everyone else that we do.

What is your favorite song to play live?  Which one gets the crowd going the most?
For me it would have to be The Tide at most shows people react to that song the most.

Any bands from the area you feel we should look for in 2008?
Definitely look out for Versa Emerge they are extremely talented and hopefully will hit it big.

If you could play a show with any three artists, past or present, who would they be?
Underoath, As Cities Burn, and Misery Signals for sure.

Who did the artwork for The Tide?
His name is Brad Filip and he is amazing.

For me, owning the physical copy of an album is something that enhances the album and my love for music.  There's nothing better than listening to a new album and going through the liner notes and checking out the artwork, but not all people feel the same and just download music.  What are your thoughts on people downloading your album?
If you download it from Itunes that's awesome but if its getting illegally downloaded that's not too cool but there's nothing we can really do about it. At least that person is still getting to hear our music.

That's all.  Any last words for the fans and readers?
If you haven't already picked up the album please do and we love all of you!!
